History
The first Sar Ship, G.O. Sars, sailed from 1950 to 1970 and was Sarsen's earliest predecessor.
The G.O. Sars was a 52 meter vessel equipped for hydrography and water sampling, plankton and fish sampling. This vessel was an important platform for the development of fisheries acoustics in Norway and she carried several generations of sonar and echosounders as well as the very first echo integrator. She was extensively used for surveying fish and the marine environment and became an "institution" among Norwegian fishermen.
